Lately the NRA has been more of a pain in the ass than usual. The Sandy Hook Elementary shootings made us all, I am sure, take a deeper look at our feelings towards guns and gun violence within this country but apparently the NRA’s look within did not go deep or far enough for long enough.
Recently, in their campaign to stop legislation to create more common sense gun laws, which include a ban on assault weapons and better background checks, they have made Robo calls into the homes of Sandy Hook families. The calls were asking the families to support their cause. How crazy is that? Did the news of how these families lost their kids to gun violence not penetrate deep into their ideologically calcified brains?!!! Do their not understand what that type of loss means and how much it has affected us in this country as a collective? The unmitigated gall of NRA members just confounds and astounds me to no end. As a parent myself I am roiling in anguish for these families and I am pissed as hell at the NRA!
These families lost their children and are still in the midst of deep mourning. What were NRA members thinking when they allowed these calls to go out? Keeping their guns and right to bear arms is so all-consuming that they fail to even comprehend what is so inherently offensive and unethical in calling the homes of parents who lost their children to such mind-boggling violence. Where is their humanity? Where is their compassion?
